Train Tracks
« on: 23 December, 2008, 12:33:26 pm »
Now, i will maby make a new map. And that will have a train tracks in it, now im wondering if my track idea is good.
checkpictures:

The top picture is my upsidedown T track with my own sliders in it. (i think the design is good cus the train cant derail huh? :D

The bottom is same track but with the PHX train wheels instead, works the same.

The red part on the tracks is func_doors that you can press on and there is just kinda like a box so you can put on the sliders, so its just to drop them down. Simple huh? :D
Btw my paint skills own XD

Also please say why you voted what you did

the first idea is good but the fact that you could only put the sliders on in a set area, alos they would be more prone to track bumps which will constantly slow your train down.

second idea is generic

The sliders need to be even for everything to be smooth. But otherwise, yes.

Oooh.. I believe I get it now..
The first pic is a custom slider model, That works somewhat like Those from phx (mono-rails, you can only put the sliders on if there's a gap somewhere)
And the second is just the same track, so it shows that it can handle Phx wheels aswell?

if the track opened up to allow the sliders in, that would be abused by minges by keeping it open, then the wheel'ed trains would simply fall in and have to be re-railed

Hmm your right, but if we think of everything else minges can do that is pretty small :stare:
*Checks if any minge is close*
The simplest but most annoying thing is to spawn a big 4x4 plate and smash your train of the track.

To prevent minging, why not put a gap somewhere in the track, and you shove your train on there:

(Soory for topic strech)

Okey i totaly redid the design after talking with paper-burn but it works the same:

The red things are the same, func_doors so you can put the slider on
But you can still use phx wheels

It would work, just the only use is fast trains. Not that many people make fast trains. Even if they do they don't play with them for more than a few days.
